Introduction

In Malaysia, for as time can tell, people come from all works of life, and they have co-

existed creating a harmonious balance that serves the greater good of the Malaysian people and

its economy. In 2015, the Malaysian government mandated that all companies operating in its

economy must develop a diversity policy that encompasses gender, ethnicity, and age. In turn,

the Malaysian government will evaluate organizational diversity policies every year. "To tackle

the modern challenges of globalization, various strategies are adopted to promote and encourage

companies to improve on their diversity policies with regards to ethnicity, gender, and age"

(TalentCorp, 2015). Leveraging diversity in the workplace increases productivity and profits;

enhances creativity, organizational reputation, creativity, cultural insights, employee engagement,

and corporate reputation; most importantly, it reduces employee staff renewal rate with securing

employee skills. “Diversity in the workplace is vital for employees because it manifests itself in

building a great reputation for the company, leading to increased profitability and opportunities

for workers. Workplace diversity is important within the organization as well as outside”

(Mayhew, 2019). This paper intends to develop an analytical essay using the article titled,

"TalentCorp: The Corporate Melting Pot," while incorporating three more additional materials to

support the essential points in the analytical essay. To further reinforce the effort or instead use of

diversity strategies in the workplace, the Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp partnered

with several award committees in recognizing companies who have exhibited archetypal struggle

in their diversity strategy. Some of the notable awards given to corporations in Malaysia are as

, follows: "National Annual Corporate Report Awards and ACCA Malaysia Sustainability

Reporting Awards. In a 2015 diversity in the workplace survey conducted by Talent Corporation

Malaysia (TalentCorp) with collaboration with PwC Malaysia, it showed the current diversity

situation in Malaysia. The recent study revealed that 53.6% of women in the workforce.

However, 60% of graduate students were women. While top management position was only 22%

of women. The findings of the survey showed that most women, after college, chose to start a

family instead of going directly into the workforce. The road to a fully diversified workplace is

an ongoing experiment, which in turn necessitates improvements along the way.

The Future of Diversity

The road to a fully diversified workplace has come a long way, and it is far from over. It

is true that in today's business settings, most organizations have some form of diversity program

in place and are continuously trying to improve on it. It is also true that there are still lots of

organizations that are not open to diversity. A recent survey performed in Malaysia

demonstrated that there is a need for a more inclusive and less stratified workforce, primarily

because of the gap in gender, culture, and age maquillage in the Malaysian populace. The good

news from Malaysia is the potentials for a better-diversified workforce and the massive push and

support by the Malaysian government fostering innovative initiatives to advance diversity to

have a socially just society that embraces all. The Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib

Tun Razak in 2015 was pledging his support for variety(diversity) when he stated that "Our mix

of religion and ethnicities could have divided us; instead, our diversity has strengthened us. In

line with this spirit, Bursa Malaysia has made disclosure of diversity policy mandatory for listed

companies beginning 2015 and has encouraged disclosure on the composition of the workforce."

The push and support for diversity need more momentum from governments, corporations,

UNESCO, the United Nations, citizens of the world, etc. With that in mind, women in the

workplace are still being marginalized based on their gender.
