OMM 618: Human Resources Management

Recruiting and Staff Plan

Employees are an organization's most precious asset, and in order to make the best pick,

the recruiting process must stress the organization's values and goals. Amazon was founded by

Jeff Bezos, who grew it from a small online bookstore to one of the world's most powerful

corporations. Human Resources (HR) at Amazon aims to hire 7,000 more people. As a result,

full-time warehouse supervisor, delivery representative, and customer service manager positions

are now available. The purpose of this paper is to look at an Amazon recruiting and staffing

strategy for a Warehouse Supervisor. In HR's procedure, finding and hiring the best candidate for

the job is crucial. Candidates will be judged on several criteria in order to pick the best candidate

for the job. In order for Amazon's expansion to go smoothly, it needs a well-organized recruiting

and personnel strategy.

Legal Landscape

State and federal laws, statutory laws, administrative laws, local laws, contract laws,

antidiscrimination laws, and so on are all in effect and change almost every day. Therefore,

Amazon’s HR needs to be aware of any updates and changes to these laws to stay ahead and to

inform its employees of any updates or changes. According to Gavin (2017), “Employment Laws

cover all other laws, regulations, and policies regarding the employee-employer relationship.

Most importantly, employment law establishes minimum workplace standards (minimum wage)

and individual rights and protections (worker privacy and freedom from discrimination) that may

be vindicated in court” (p.259). Congress passed the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970

(OSHA) to safeguard employee health and safety on the job. The Equal Employment

, Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is in charge of accusations of discrimination under Title VII of

the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Title VII outlaws employment discrimination based on race, color,

religion, sex, or national origin, ensuring equal opportunity in the workplace and addressing the

segregation and underrepresentation of minorities caused by prejudice (Seaquist, 2012).

Amazon's HR department will set clear standards for communicating with and training its

staff and setting up a system for employees to report any issues or concerns, conducting fair and

thorough investigations, and informing staff about the consequences of policy infractions. HR

must be aware of the numerous potential dangers that even simple statements can cause

regarding the recruiting and hiring process. No questions on race, sex, national origin, or other

classifications under Title VII or municipal and state laws should be asked during the recruiting

and hiring process.

Recruiting Plan

According to Youssef-Morgan & Stark (2020), “The purpose of the recruitment process is

to identify and attract qualified talent for organizational jobs in a timely and effective manner”

(Ch.5, para.1). HR's responsibility is to recruit and fill unfilled positions and replace employees

who have departed or been terminated so that the organization's aims and objectives are not

jeopardized. It is critical for the organization's success to find and attract a suitable individual

who meets its aims. Since it reduces the pool of candidates from which to choose, recruitment

also acts as a basis for effective selection. Recruitment is inextricably linked to compensation,

benefits, training, development, and performance evaluation. Qualified applicants are chosen,

compensated, trained, rewarded, retained, promoted, or terminated based on their contributions

to the business and their alignment with the organization's values, needs, and goals. As a result,

recruitment plays a crucial role in HRM (Youssef-Morgan & Stark, 2020).

There are various options for filling the full-time Warehouse Supervisor post. Employee
