2a. Brainstorming Session Goal and Processes:

A brainstorming one-hour meeting will be held in the conference room on the 2nd floor at

the Oncology Department and it will be scheduled with stakeholders to build a relationship

between the group and offer them the chance to participate in the decision-making process in the

areas in which each believes the hospital can improve. Each person, before the meeting, needs to

express their thoughts about the problems which they think needs to be improved or a change in

the current process to promote better outcome. During the meeting, we will start brainstorming,

choose which problem will be our priority, and will come up with reasonable, cost-effective

solutions for the current challenges facing the nursing staff. Executions must be carried out

within a stipulated timeframe. An email will be sent to schedule the meeting time.

2b. Written description of the method for consensus decision-making:

The method used for consensus decision-making during the meeting would be the

Nominal Group Technique (NGT). (McMillan et al., 2016). It is an effective method of

brainstorming for groups using verbal techniques that encourages everyone's participation and

allows easy selection of the most critical issues, problems, or solutions. I would use this method

because there would be concerns about some members not participating, so the meeting

facilitator with go-round in turns (specified time limit), and each member needs to present one

idea. The facilitator will write them down as said by the participant. The rounding will continue

until all the ideas have been captured (within the specified time). Then, each idea is discussed in

turn. During the discussion, clarifications would be made, questions would be answered,

prioritizing and analysis of the ideas would be discussed. Then through multi-voting (list

reduction), the final decision would be made based on the solution with the highest total ranking.
