Health Care Assignment
Health Care Culture
Culture permeates almost every aspect of human life. Within the arena of health care,
, 2
culture affects the way both patients and care givers view illnesses and their belief of how care
should be approached. The link between culture and religion is revealed through human
expression of cultural belonging. As culture reveals how humans understand and experience the
world; religion is a central way through which they experience and understand the world (Cuellar
De la Cruz and Robinson, 2017). This paper aims to discuss health care culture and describe how
Christian world view can be utilized to improve ethical practices.
Definition of Health Care Culture, Including Culture of Excellence and Safety
Culture encompasses a range of shared conceptual assumptions that guide how humans
behave and interpret maters. On the scope of healthcare, organizational culture includes the
shared customs, ethics, thinking patterns and behaviors of those within these setups (Braithwaite,
2017). Mannion and Davies (2018) further explained that health care organizational culture
entails how individuals mutually feel, think, and behave. Based on these definitions, healthcare
organizational culture portrays the features of health care organizations and how these are
revealed in the process of patient care.
Healthcare organizations’ major focus is on how their cultural views can translate to
safety, a wellness, and patient-centered practices. Fostering the culture of safety is an essential
component of controlling clinical errors and improving the quality of health care (Kachalia et al.,
2016). As a result of increased quality and safety, organizations are able to establish a culture of
excellence. If transparency and communication is added, the patients will develop trust in the
processes and together with their families and caregivers, they will become more confident with
the care received (Mannion & Davies, 2018).
