HSM541: Week 1 Discussion

Week 1: Costs, Quality, and Access
Discuss the interrelationships between healthcare costs, quality, and access from the
Roemer model of health services systems. Make suggestions on how one would
maximize access and quality while keeping costs low. Now, analyze why these
suggestions have not been put into place.

- Good evening everyone ,
In the United States is really hard to keep the health insurance thru the job or private
because it is very expensive. Most of the people can not afford to paid an insurance
because of the price of the health insurance is very high from single plan to a family
plan for example if we want to buy a private insurance approximately the price is around

you have to pay monthly for the plan, to maintain that is only for a single person. Most of

with the insurance. Every time that we go to the provider office we have to pay a

should be more opportunity for the people to maintain the insurance and sometimes the
insurance are not covering everything either we have to make a payment for the
procedure. For example, somebody when for a colonoscopy and endoscopy beside
what the insurance paid to the provided the patient has to make a payment for the
amount of $350. The receptionist said or the insurance will not cover everything and we
need to charge that amount if you do not paid you can not have the procedure.

major goal is health. There are a number of approaches to increase accessibility and
quality while keeping expenses reasonable. For example, there is continuous debate
concerning whether or not individual healthcare is available. Is it a right or a privilege?
Ensure that everyone has a right to insurance and healthcare is one method to increase
accessibility. Enabling anyone access to health insurance will provide opportunities and
