American Nurse's Credentialing Center (ANCC) is a certification body for qualified
nurses in the United States. It also regulates the providers of nursing education. ANCC also
monitors the Magnet Recognition Program which evaluates health institutions based on their
nursing excellence (Newhouse, 2013). The body also watches over a program identified as
‘pathway to excellence which helps hospitals to boost the working atmosphere for nurses. It
administers examinations for those that intend to come to be certified as qualified nurses. ANCC
exams are divided into two pieces; the professional practice which takes 17%, the foundation for
advanced practice which comprises 37%, and independent practice which takes 46% (Buppert,
