BSME 2 – Thermodynamics 2

Level 2: h-s Chart

The h-s chart, also known as the
mollier chart. The h means
enthalpy and s means entropy. It
also shows the properties of water
under various conditions. Entropy
is represented by all vertical lines,
while enthalpy is represented by
all horizontal lines. This chart is
commonly used to represent the
properties of wet steam, saturated
vapor, and superheated vapor.

The h-s chart has a small table that
lists certain saturation points of a
substance, but since there is a steam
table book, it is rarely used.

, The saturated steam
curve is the red line. In the
h-s chart, it's the line that
separates the two regions.

Superheated Steam Region The superheated steam
region is located above it.
The wet steam region, on
the other hand, is located
beneath it.
