Defining Conflict


Conflict is described as a struggle between two or more parties where they must talk

through verbal or nonverbal manner and the results affect one another. (Bevan, 2020) When two

or more people come to a disagreement creates a conflict, that needs to be resolved through

communication. Bevan describes five basic conflicts styles accommodation, avoidance,

collaboration, competition, and compromise. Accommodation conflict is when a person tends to

give into another’s demands. Avoidance is when on ignores the problem until it goes away.

Collaboration is when you work with the other parties in order to both come out winning. In

competition, you are more concerned about yourself then the other party, so you try to win at any

cost even if it creates a bigger conflict. Finally, compromise when you work together to find a

good resolution. (Bevan, 2020)

wasn’t handled correctly was when Dre felt as if he wasn’t in the same level as Bow, as a result

of a conversation he had with his coworkers. At work he tells his coworkers the news, and they
