MGT 380: Leadership for Organizations


Many equate "leadership" to a sequence of distinct qualities or features. Others perceive it as

possessing specific skillsets and expertise. While some, including me, consider Leadership to be

more of a process. This perception of Leadership, as a process, accentuates social interactions

and relationships. This is the notion that Leadership is a kind of relationship that generally

comprises prompting others towards a specific course. Thus, encouraging my present working

explanation of Leadership: Leadership is an association that contains urging, persuading, and

directing others toward desirable goals. However, this explanation does not suppose that the

objectives are correlative or even unambiguous. The word sensual merely refers to somebody

within the association, possibly just the individual within a leadership function, who desires a

specific result. Leadership connotes change. It alludes to aiding an organization to clarify its

vision, exploiting possible opportunities, and evading looming threats. It involves influencing

others to evolve and to give free rein to their yet new potentials. Moreover, it is about

motivating individuals not to be afraid of going towards unknown terrain. This paper aims to

examine key concepts of Leadership in my place of work or in a social organization to which I

may belong with leadership concepts.



For this assignment, I will be examining my place of employment and will not be displaying

information such as the enterprise's name. I believe that the leadership theory that best

describes my place of employment is the ParticipativeAdministrative leadership theory. This

managerial style welcomes the input of employees concerning organizational decisions.

Organizational personnel is provided with relevant details concerning administrative issues,

and the majority rule is employed to determine the

, best strategy that the organization will use. Participative Leadership promotes participation

and contributions from corporate associates and helps them feel valued and dedicated to the

decision-making process. Instead of making all the decisions, a participative leader seeks to

include others, hence, improve commitment and increase teamwork, which results in more

efficient decision making and more success. This has many advantages; for instance

acceptance, organizational personnel is more willing to accept guidelines and rules achieved

via consensus. This curtails any resistance that new company policies usually experience and

accelerates the process of employing new concepts. "Employees are given a personal stake in

the success of new company policies by being involved in the process of creating and

approving these policies, and that helps the company to adjust rapidly to policy changes" (Lam

et al., 2015).



For instance, in my organization, when they were trying to implement a dress code policy, the

organization's leaders involved the staff in the decision-making. We decided on a policy that

allowed us to remain business casual while implementing other things like jersey Friday, where

you can represent your favorite team, and dress down weekends where you can wear jeans.



Participative Leadership also promotes creativity because when employees are encouraged to

give their opinions concerning organizational issues, leaders will be met with various solutions

to pick from. "To be involved in the decision-making process for the company, the staff must

be intimately involved in how the company operates" (Lam et al., 2015). Participative
