A)A teacher is responsible for the health of their students during the pandemic, they have to
ensure that their students are taking proper precautionary measures by wearing masks in school and
prevent them from taking off their mask when doing outdoor activities. Being masked all the time
can be a bit challenging especially for teachers, because teachers can’t see if students are focused or
struggling with their hidden facial expressions. The pandemic also affected the curriculum, they had
to adapt to it to with the new environment.
Teachers need to let the parents know when their child struggles with their work or when they are
irresponsible at school, but this is going to be hard because you can’t have meetings with the
parents when covid plays a role. You need to provide the learners with proper education (and not
just run read the textbooks to them). There isn’t enough time to go through all the work so there
would be a lot of homework.
Teachers also had to learn how to help their colleagues navigate the new environment. Teachers
needed to help each other and others when they used e-learning (online learning/classes). Teachers
need to help each other by standing in (take their classes) for them when they are sick or with a
family issue.
B)
The wearing of masks can prevent a teacher from expressing their facial expressions to their
students. It is difficult for teachers to interact with the learners due to the school rotation and they
may not see them as often, some learners may fall behind. The fear teachers feel due to the
pandemic has a detrimental effect on their psychological health and that prevents them from giving
lessons in an eventful(fun) way. Teachers cannot meet in groups or share ideas with each other and
to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, teachers adjusted their classes and online schooling. It may
have been that teachers were under pressure to know the topic and also navigate systems that are
unfamiliar to them for example Zoom or Google Classroom, teachers learned new skills/learning
methods by teaching school/classes online. Teachers did not get the chance to see how their
students were performing (mentally or emotionally) or to give their students proper attention.
