Escritor italiano Poeta y humanista,
sin dudas uno de los más
importantes escritores de la historia
de la literatura, considerado junto
con Petrarca y Dante los impulsores
de la literatura italiana. También fue
autor de algunas de sus obras en
latín. Su obra con mayúsculas sin
dudas es El Decamerón. Las leyendas
que el propio Boccaccio se encargó
de difundir acerca de su vida no
permiten determinar si nació en
París, Certaldo o Florencia. Lo cierto
es que creció en esta última ciudad,
en el barrio de San Pietro Maggiore, y
fue educado por Giovanni Mazzuoli
da Strada, quien le inculcó la pasión
por Dante que lo dominaría toda su
vida.

relevantes: Filocolo (h. 1336),
adaptación de la historia
medieval de Floris y Blancaflor;
Filostrato (1338), poema adscrito
al ciclo de la guerra de Troya; y el
poema épico La Teseida (1339-
1340).
