The aim of article one, "The impact of interruptions on medication errors in hospitals: an

observational study of nurses," was to explore interruptions during medication preparation and

administration and their consequences citation needed here. Medication administration is an

essential aspect of a patient's plan of care. Interruptions and errors have become common during

medication administration – substantiate this by providing statistics on occurrence and cost. This

is an ongoing issue that affects the patient's safety in the hospital setting.

According to article three, "Progressive Care Nurses Improving Patient Safety by

Limiting Interruptions During Medication Administration," the purpose was "to evaluate the

effectiveness of evidence-based strategies to limit interruptions during scheduled, peak

medication administration times in 3 progressive cardiac care units. This pilot practice change

was designed to answer two questions: (1) Does the implementation of the NUPASS guidelines

decrease interruptions during medication administration? Furthermore, (2) Do medication errors

decrease following the implementation of NUPASS guidelines? A secondary aim of the project

was to evaluate the impact of limiting interruptions on medication errors” (Flynn, 2016).

In the article "The impact of interruptions on medication errors in hospitals: an

observational study of nurses" researchers observed nurses during their medication

administration. Article one study confirmed that interruptions frequently occur "during

medication preparation and administration, and these interruptions were associated with

procedural failures and clinical errors. Nurses were the primary source of interruptions, with
