This museum is one of the largest art museums in the world. I notice
French artists made most of the art paintings and sculptures while

Museum was originally a castle built by one of France's first kings,
King Phillip II. Throughout the Middle Ages, the French king added to
the site, making the building more prominent. During the Renaissance
and the Enlightenment, the French kings began to take a greater interest
in art, buying numerous pieces, including the Mona Lisa, and stealing
fine arts from other countries. The Madonna of Saint Jerome by
Antonio da Correggio, 1525-28, was one of the first pieces of art looted
by
, Napoleon from Italy for the French king. After moving to Versailles,
Louis XIV even opened the Louvre as a court exclusively for his
favorite artists. At the end of the 1700s, the French people demanded
access to the artwork, so the king gave them access to only a handful.
After the French Revolution, Louver transformed into a new museum
