Survey of World History
Task 4

A. Discuss the causes and results (i.e., cultural, political, and/or economic) of one of the
following revolutions: American Revolution
After the American victory of the Seven Years’ War, Britain was in debt. They then
believed that American colonies were not paying enough taxes. This angered American colonies.
They said they had “taxation without representation” as they were not represented in the
Parliament overseas. These taxes included taxes on paper and tea. For years, American colonists
saw themselves as British. Although, after the Seven Years’ War, they started to see how Britain
began to treat them as inferior. After the unfair treatment and taxes, American colonies started

countries use the example as an inspiration to start their own revolution. (Acrobatiq, 2017, pg
