1.Sales by region:
A. In our initial analysis, we were able to pinpoint Massachusetts as the state holding the company's most extensive customer base. This result was achieved using SELECT and JOIN statements to pull the number of unique instances of a CustomerID with the COUNT function. The resulting count being the total number of
customers in a given area. In this instance, we limit to the top 5 states.
B. We then identified the top three products sold in the United States with further use of the SELECT and COUNT queries. As the counts are solely from the orders table, the statement does not require a JOIN. GROUP BY and ORDER BY DESC keywords are used for result clarity. The top three products sold by quantity were Basic Switch 10/100/1000 BaseT 48 port, Enterprise Switch 40GigE SFP+ 48 port, and Enterprise Switch 10GigE SFP+ 48 port. C. Given our previous top-selling products, we then analyzed the highest sold products in the Southeast market region. Like our first analysis, this was achieved using SELECT and JOIN statements with COUNT function to compare records from just Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Unsurprisingly, the results are similar to the top-selling products in the United States, with the 3rd most sold item being replaced by “Basic Switch 10/100/1000 BaseT 8 port”.
