Motivation

Introduction

"The term "motivation" is derived from the word "motive". As a noun, the word "motivation"

means a purpose, and this word means a transition to action as a verb. Motivation is therefore the

power to compel individuals to behave in a way that ensures that a specific individual's needs are

met at the same time. Behind any human behavior is a purpose. Leadership must then inspire

individuals to work for the organization. Motivation can be defined as a planned process of

management that enables individuals to achieve their full potential by offering motivation based

on unmet needs. Motivation is an integral part of every organization, perhaps (Koster, 2017). It is

a psychological approach through the efforts of others to actually implement a strategy or policy.

The big undeveloped reservoir of physical and mental abilities is activated by a

successful motivational method. Some studies have shown that in deciding the level of success,

motivation plays an important role. Motivation helps improve productivity by fulfilling human

needs. Increased use of capital decreases operational costs. There is often an emphasis on

motivation. Therefore, the greater the degree of motivation, the greater the accomplishment of

the objective. Efficient motivation helps to resolve negative employee behaviors, such as

resistance to change and limits on productivity. Satisfied workers are involved in the

organization's new objectives and are more likely to make the improvements that management

needs to make in order to boost operating performance.

, The purpose of the theory of motivation is to find motives for individuals to work for

their goals or outcomes. Since motivated individuals are more efficient, which leads to a more

economical use of resources, businesses are interested in the theory of motivation.

Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Theory

Maslow's motivation theory is one of the most famous motivational theories known as the Desire

Hierarchy. Maslow sees employee needs as a pyramid where individuals step up the ladder and

fulfill each level's needs consistently. Psychological needs, protection needs, social needs,

respect needs, and needs for self-actualization are the five basic forms of needs. This principle

therefore implies that executives should recognize the requirements of individual workers and

aim to contribute to their satisfaction (Gopalan, Bakar, Zulkifli, Alwi & Mat, 2017). If so,

workers are heading toward self-actualization, making it possible for the company to be as

successful as possible. However, because of the uncertainty and unpredictability of human

actions, this hypothesis has been criticized. More static than dynamic, he often sees individual

needs. Unwanted factors can cause sudden changes in needs, such as the effect of unemployment

on aesthetic needs.

ERG Theory

This theory of life, relationships and the need for creation, suggested by Alderfer, is much

simpler than the approach of Maslow. The five needs identified by Maslow correspond to the

three needs of the ERG theory of Alderfer. There are three essential needs, Alderfer points out,

but these needs are not always enabled in any specific order. In reality, Alderfer argues that any

need can be triggered at any time, but if higher needs are not met, this theory has a return aspect

of desperation and the degree of desire that a person wants to fulfill. Suggest rising. Restricted

working conditions, for instance, or the inability to fulfill growth needs may increase the demand

for rewards, such as money.
