supply chain management include Logistics, Transportation, and Security.
Logistics is everything from acquired, stored, transported, inventory, packaging, supplies,
warehouse, etc. It sounds complicated, but without logistics, there is no global supply chain
management. "Logistics is the transportation and distribution of goods and services." Taylor,
2019. Suppose management has an exemplary process of planning and executing. In that case,
logistics will be efficient from point A to B. Logistics is important to many businesses because it
can help cut on the product's cost and time from point A to point B.
Transportation is the movement of goods from one location to another, according to
Taylor, 2019. There are plenty of transportation modes such as rail, trucking, air, water,
intermodal, and pipeline. Depending on which type of business you are in, transportation is key
to getting the goods to the customer at the less cost possible. Global transportation is costly
because it is overseas. There are pros and cons to transportation globally. The advantages of
transportation globally are enhanced network and cost reduction. Enhanced network – there are
so many companies out there wanting to do business to take your business's logistic needs. Cost
reduction – due to cheap labor from other countries like China, India, etc., the cost will be less on
a product so that transportation will be less. The disadvantages of global transportation are cost
and legality. Cost – Cost increases due to weather and disaster; these will increase cost in
transportation. Legality – Politic plays a major role in this because tax tariffs can affect expenses
up or down.
