I have just been promoted to manager and I am so excited to be able to put my take on the
five functions of management. These five different functions will allow me to grow into a
successful manager and give me the opportunity to do what fits best for my personality and for
my team. Starting out with the importance of planning, going forward with organization, staffing
expectations, leading by example, and having that control. “All organizations, regardless of their

like to see if I were still a packer and not a manager. A healthy and happy work environment is
one of my top priority for my employees to feel like they are properly cared for at the workplace.
Planning
One of the most critical aspects of the five managerial functions is to have a plan. By
having and following a strong plan can determine the foundation on the company’s success.

Reilly, M., & Minnick, 2014). As a manager, when you are creating a plan you always have to
incorporate operational goals, set certain standards, and build an effective team with a positive
work culture. Using my personal experiences working for Amazon for the last few years will
benefit my knowledge on the job responsibilities and quality standards. In order to promote a
healthy team culture, I will start out with a grand team meeting. This will give me a chance to
not only indorse my plans and expectations of my team but also give me a chance to meet and
get to know my supervisors along with my other staff. “The overall assessment of the firm’s
internal environment begins with a focus on the company strengths and weaknesses” (). In order
