Philosophy of Exceptional Learning and Inclusion
As an Early Childhood Educator, it is our job to build an exceptional learning
environment where everyone feels included. To do this, you must consider all of the different
types of children there are out there. Creating an inclusive environment for exceptional learners
takes a combination of collaboration, inclusion, and a teacher who can make these things work in
tandem.
Intended Career Path
Currently, I work in a daycare center as a Kindergarten Prep teacher working with four
and five-year-olds. After graduating from Ashford, I plan to continue working at my daycare
center and using the knowledge gained from my time here to enhance my teaching skills.
Suppose the opportunity arises for me to jump into a position with more responsibilities, possibly
becoming an education coordinator at my current center or something outside of the daycare like
a Wildlife Educator. I believe that my time here at Ashford will have prepared me to be ready for
either of those two moves into a new career.
Professional Dispositions
As an educator, it's important to hold certain dispositions that will help you provide the
best experience for your students. I have the disposition to be open-minded, flexible, and
maintain positive expectations for children at a high value. Cline and Necochea say that
“teachers must be open-minded regarding the students in their care, and with the curriculum they
design." (2006) It's important to be ready for anything to pop up when teaching. I think adapting
to a situation quickly is an essential skill for an educator to have.
