ENG 250

“A conversation with my Father”

“A parent’s love is whole, no matter how many times divided” –Robert Breault. Are we really

paying attention to the sacrifices that our parents are making for us? Or we’re just too busy

growing not noticing the little things that they do for in order to live a better life and bring

closure that we are always loved and cared for. This story portrays the opposite in both the father

and daughter’s conversation and also the story that they were writing or somehow the daughter

had to write, while the father tried to add in his own ideas but was denied by his daughter. Back

and forth discussing the story that the daughter was writing in request for her dying and elderly

father, they weren’t communicating very well. “You misunderstood me on purpose” – [par.5].

It’s a symbol showing that daughter didn’t listen nor respected her father’s ideas about the story.

narrated the story. “Why do you answer me like that?” – [par.15] after asking her daughter

“doesn’t anyone in your stories get married….Before they jump into the bed” – [par.15]. This

show just how optimistic the father was and how he wanted his daughter to feel as well towards

the characters.

do otherwise. He mentioned a few Russian writers that he wanted her daughter to write

accordingly like and that shows the father wanted her daughter to include a little bit of who we

was and the type of writing her likes in her story. As much as the daughter wanted to include her

father’s ideas but them disagreeing with each is another showing that they view life differently

maybe because they grew up in different era. On the second attempt of narrating the story for her
