Many businesses and organizations will use strategic planning and the useful tools that can be found. These tools can guide them with
plans and processes that will be relevant for their organization or business(Francisco, Rodriquez, & Peiro, 2012). This relevance will
also be determined by the business or organizations size, different services provided, how complex the business or organization is and
more. Strategic planning is also used in the health care field. Again, depending on the agencies dynamics, and how it interacts with
others, how many departments are within the facility, and how they might interact together will determine what is used and
how(Francisco, Rodriquez, & Peiro, 2012). The health care industry processes for strategic planning is rational, holistic,
programmable, systematic, and it will integrate the short term with the medium term, and the long term goals and objectives. This will
let the health care facility to focus on what is most important and relevant to them now and will also allow for transitions and
transformations for future needs(Francisco, Rodriquez, & Peiro, 2012).
Using strategic planning in health care will help create marketing plans for the facilities operations, whether that be as a single entity
or a full-fledge many functioning medical facility (includes cardiology, internal, surgery, burn units, etc.). A couple of tools that the
health care facility can use are the BCG Growth-Share Matrices and the GE/McKinsey Nine Cell Matrices.
