Even today in 2020, there is still a lot of confusion when it comes the psychological
issues regarding victimology and correctional psychology. Through the millions of news articles,
research studies, and other data, there is a lot of conflicting data to sort through. The programs
that are used for victims of traumatic incidents seems to leading the charge with developing the
most consistent data with regards to treatment. There are many options now for survivors with
regards to therapy and after care. This review will try to evaluate evidence-based treatment
programs for both offenders and trauma-related survivors for efficiency, feasibility, and
admissibility. The review will also address ethical guidelines of the APA’s Ethical Principle of
Psychologists and code of conduct. Any related Supreme Court rulings or decisions will also be
discussed.

Non-Violent Offenders
A non-violent offender is one who commits a crime and does not use any force or harm
on another person. The purpose of the offender is target based and not intended to harm anyone
else in the area or that is involved. This can be a pick pocket, to property damage. There is no
intent to harm another person. These crimes are then classified by value of damage or loss to the
victim. This tends to have less of a psychological toll on the victim as it tends to be something
