Describe how you would apply a specific theory of social psychology to advance your
advocacy agenda.
The theory that would be applied for the social learning theory to advance my advocacy
agenda would be the theory that was offered by Albert Bandura where he suggested “an
importance of observing, modeling, and imitating the behaviors, attitudes and emotional
reactions of others” (McLeod, 2016). By using the same basis, it would be possible to guide
others to present positive behaviors towards other people where they could also influence others
towards positive behaviors and mindsets rather than focusing on negative actions and behaviors
towards each other. By understanding and promoting positive behaviors within my own life, I
can affect others to follow these behaviors towards others and in time it may be possible to have
everyone advocate for others throughout the world.

advocacy agenda.
The theory of cognitive psychology that could be used to promote my advocacy agenda
would be the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT theory. The CBT theory is based on the
way people are aware of a situation where they base their behavior on their reactions rather than
the actual situation (Beck, 2020). For example, if people have a negative mindset towards a
situation, they will continue having a negative mindset going forward; however, if people have a
positive feeling towards a situation, they will continue having a positive feeling going forward. If
it my goal to promote happiness and peace within the community, it would be most beneficial if I
personally followed with a positive mindset in order to influence others to have the same mindset
going forward.
