Ch.7 [More on MS-Word 2010]
We have learnt the basic features of a word processor MS-WORD 2010. Now
will learn some more advance features about the same.
Some Advance Features of MS-WORD 2010 are:
1. Bullets and Numbering: This option is used to create a list of items. Lists
are a way of arranging data items either in a sequential order like (1,2,3
etc. or A,B,C etc. or I, II, III etc.) or without having an order using bullets.
There are three types of list that can be created in a document.
1. Bulleted List: When we don’t want arrange list’s items in an order
then we choose it.
2. Numbered List: When we want to arrange our data or items in a
sequential order then we choose it.
3. Multilevel List: When we want to create an outline list with multiple
levels like the contents of chapters in books.
There are following steps to create list
Click on Home Tab -> Click on Bullets or Numbered or Multilevel drop down
arrow which you want to create and select bullet or number or multilevel
type under the paragraph group.
2. Subscript and Superscript: Subscript example: H2O Superscript
Example: 52=25
Subscript: In Subscript Selected text or character appears smaller than
standard text and below of the base line.
Superscript: In Superscript Selected text or character appear smaller than
standard text and above of the base line. These options are available in
HOME TAB under font group.
3. Inserting Symbols: Symbols are the special characters that can be
inserted in a document for writing mathematical or scientific notations
or equations.
Click on Insert Tab -> Click on Symbol or Equation option which you
want to insert.
4. Inserting a Clip Art: Clip Art is a collection of pictures or images that can
be imported or inserted into a document.
Steps to add clip Art in document:
Click on Insert Tab -> Click on Clip Art option -> clip art task pane will
appear at the right side, write the name of picture in the search box
that you want to search and click on go button -> pictures will appear
and click on the desired picture to insert.
5. Inserting a Picture: You can insert picture from your computer so click
on insert tab and click on picture option to insert picture.
6. Formatting the pictures:
, a. We can resize our picture using resizing points available on the
picture when we click on picture.
b. We can crop our picture using Crop option available in the format
tab.
c. We can add style to a picture using styles from format tab.
7. Inserting WordArt: WordArt option is used to make the text attractive. It
has various effects which we can select. If we want to write text using
WordArt then follow the steps:
Click on Insert Tab and select WordArt Option.
8. Formatting the WordArt:
a. We can change the colour of WordArt Text by clicking on Text Fill
option under format tab.
b. We can change the outline colour of WordArt Text by clicking on
Text outline option under the format tab.
c. We can apply Shadow, Reflection, Bevel and 3-D rotation effects
on WordArt text from the format tab.
d. We can change text direction of the WordArt Text using Text
direction option from format tab.
9. Inserting Shapes: Shapes are built-in graphics in MS-Word 2010. We can
draw a variety of shapes like arrow, square, stars, flowchart etc. Follow
the steps to draw the shapes:
Click on Insert Tab -> Click on Shapes option drop down arrow -> click
on any shape which you want to draw -> draw the selected shape on the
page by dragging the mouse.
a. We can apply Shape Fill and outline colour using Shape Fill and
Shape Outline option.
b. We can write text in shape: Right click on shape and choose add
text.
10. Page Setting: Making changes to the setting of a page is called Page
Setting. We can apply different types of page setting on page.
a. Setting Page Margin: Page Margin is the blank space between
written text and edges of the paper. There are four types of
margin available such as Left, Right, Top and Bottom Margin. By
default page margin is 1 inch. If we want to change page margin
follow the given steps:
Click on Page Layout Tab -> click on Margin option and select the
desired margin.
