, A. Choose a company’s code of ethics from the Web Links section below and analyze that company’s

code of ethics by doing the following:

1. Analyze how well the chosen company’s code of ethics covers the topic of corporate social

responsibility (CSR).

On page 21 of the company code of ethics, it says that Mayo is committed to providing a safe and

healthy workplace for employees and visitors as well as “equally committed to wisely managing

and sustaining natural resources and minimizing the impact of our operations on the land, air and

water.” (article)

This shows that at least on the surface, the Mato clinic has the desire to create corporate social

responsibility. Whether or not this occurs remains to be seen.

2. Analyze how well the chosen company’s code of ethics covers the topic of compliance with legal

mandates.

It also states that they will review and enforce compliance with safety, health, and environmental

laws. To do this there will be inspection and enforcement personnel. They encourage reporting

of situations where one may feel conditions are unsafe.

a. Describe the ramifications for an organization when it is noncompliant with legal mandates.

If an organization is noncompliant with legal mandates, there are multiple potential

consequences. There can just be a simple review by government agencies. This can lead to

potential fines, which can vary inn dollar amount depending upon the findings of the review.

This can also lead to potential suspensions and even firings of staff depending on which laws

were not followed.

b. Describe two legal or ethical safeguards the chosen company has in place or could put in place

to prevent illegal or unethical acts.
