Define the following sub-disciplines of anatomy (1 phrase each):

● Gross anatomy – The study of body structures that can be examined from the
naked eye.

-Regional anatomy – The study of body structures in a single region that are
examined as a group.

-Systemic anatomy – The study of organs that share a related function.

-Surface anatomy – The study of shapes/markings on the surface that reveal
underlying organs.

● Microscopic anatomy (histology) – The study of microscopic structures. Cells,
tissues, etc.

List the 12 systems of the human body (Figure 1.2)
Integumentary (hair/skin/nails), skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine (hormones-
>regulates processes), digestive, urinary, circulatory, respiratory (keeps O2, removes
CO2), lymphatic (immune response), male/female reproductive system.

Describe what a human looks like when standing in the anatomical position.
