Use this link to read about what a member of the House Office of Legislative Council does.
After reading the first 4 paragraphs, summarize what someone in this office actually does...
They help the house of representatives in drafting legislation. This is begun by a person having some
sort of problem that needs a legislative solution. The staff member assigned to this issue must
familiarize themselves with the problem and the legal solution that's intended to solve it. The
attorneys must be impartial at all times to the policies that are going to be incorporated into the
legislative proposal.
L sum: act like attorneys in legal part in making sure everything in the bill is legally comprehensible.
Help figure out issue, to address it in a legal way for congress members. Thinking of it legally what is
the possible law. Must be impartial, it's not about whether one likes it or not, job is tyring to figure out
corect legal approach for Bill.
Read this article about H.R. 1 (from the 116th Congress).
Explain what the proposed law would do (just pick a few). Then, describe how one liberal and
one conservative interest group have attempted to influence this legislation.
The policy of H.R.1 Addresses dark money, and wants presidents to release their tax returns and
make election day a federal holiday, as some of the ideas proposed. One liberal interest group that
has attempted to influence this legislation is Public Citizen, a liberal consumer rights group, pressured
congress to support this legislation. It spent 250,000 in 2018. And once conserative interest group
that has attempted to influence this legislation is FreedomWorks, a conservative think tank spent in
2018 it 1.9 million.
, Sarah Answers: Req president's tax returns, liberal group automatic voter registration. Conservative
group, talks about democrat political protection act only serves democrats.
L talk: establish automatic voter registration, require a relase of tax returns, transparency with
campaign group. A lot to do with voting regis, and financial transparency.
