World History Task 4
American Revolution causes and results
The American Revolution, also known as the War for Independence, had many causes,
and effected our world greatly. Originally the Americas were 13 British colonies which for the
most part governed themselves. However, ater the French and Indian war the British
government felt the need to increase the taxes in the colonies. After all, the war was to protect
the American colonies from the French and Indians. (Paveo, 2016)
Systematically, the king and parliament began raising the taxes on various items used
within the colonies, from the stamp act, which taxed oicial documents, to the tea act which
taxes tea, the colonists were enraged that the king would just raise taxes on them without the
colonists being represented in parliament. (Paveo, 2016)
One night, several colonists dressed up as Indians and ransacked an incoming ship and
threw all the tea overboard. When the king heard what had happened he did not respond
favorably. The king enforced the quartering act, which stated that the colonists must house
British soldiers at their own expense. This enraged the colonists. (Paveo, 2016)
, Delegates from the 13 colonies drafted a document stating their grievances with the
government. They hoped to be received favorably, however, the king disregarded their requests.
Eventually, the delegates wrote the declaration of Independence. This founding document listed
the reasons the colonists were separating from England, and the many occasions King George
had misused his authority. (Paveo, 2016)
The result of this document was the American Revolution. England sent over red coat
soldiers to fight the colonists to try to prevent them from staring their own country. After
many battles, which were full of miracles, the colonists prevailed. The next steps were for
the Contenental Congress to drat the Constitution of the United States of America and to
elect a President and government officials. What these men did in 1776 effected the entire
world. Through their brave actions the United States of America was formed. (Paveo, 2016)
Today, most of the world looks up to America as an inspiration. She has become a
leader in many facets of life. The American Revolution started the country that is the longest
constitutional republic and has many freedoms and liberties for the people. Its government is
the most stable government. We have lived under the same constitution over 400 years. God
has really blessed the nation of the United States of America. (Paveo, 2016)
