The Design Brief:
The Purpose:
GamePlay, the game company has asked me to design a graphical game cover and poster
(the printed version)for their upcoming game called “Chronicles of the Labyrinth”. This will
be utilised for promoting the game and its features in both the game and promotional
materials like billboard advertisements, TV ads, local shops to be displayed and on social
media…etc
Client Requirements:
The client (Gameplay) has specified that their front cover for this game will be a poster
which is the printed version to be displayed for promotional purposes and a digital front
cover. The client requested me to include a backdrop, one 3D character, a logo, the game's
title, colour usage, meeting the target audience, and a high-quality image. These
specifications have to be met and displayed in the poster.
Target Audience:
"Chronicles of the Labyrinth " is a fantasy adventure game with elements of horror and
puzzle-solving and hints of sci fi. The game's cover features the protagonist navigating a
mysterious, magical, and perilous world, showcasing both the fantastical and dark elements
of the game. The game is primarily targeted at players aged 16+, who are more engaged
with fantasy and adventure genres and have the maturity to appreciate the horror elements
and complex puzzles. The game is designed to appeal to all genders, with a slightly higher
proportion of male players. The game is primarily targeting a global audience, with a focus
on regions with strong gaming communities such as North America, Europe, and East Asia.
The target audience includes fantasy literature and films enthusiasts, those who value
creativity, imagination, and intellectual challenges, and those who enjoy immersive
experiences. The game's target audience is tech-savvy and spends a significant amount of
their leisure time playing video games, often engaging with gaming communities online.

Front Cover and characters:
The front cover of little nightmares being the most frightening and mysterious cover, as we
can see it features a captivating scene: a small, vulnerable person in a yellow raincoat

standing against a setting of darkness, illuminated only by the candle they are holding.
Surrounding them loom towering, shadowy figures, their mysterious forms hinting at the
cover horrors describing the game's mysterious world. The cover art sets the tone for the
game's atmospheric blend of suspense, horror, and horrid beauty, this shows the player
character, navigating a nightmarish world filled with grotesque creatures and terrifying
encounters,
Hogwarts Legacy however deems less dark and more bright than other game, a view of the
Hogwarts Castle in the background against a backdrop of swirling magical energy. In the
foreground, a, we see young wizard, or which takes centre stage wearing a black hooded
cloak, their expression showing although as they are ready face the challenges ahead. The
front cover of Hogwarts Legacy summarises Harry Potter's magical world, inviting players to
embark on an epic journey of discovery and adventure, showcasing the magical and fantasy
setting and spells.
Unlike these mentioned games, Portal 2’s aesthetic represents sci fi and futurism, for
instance it features a headless robotic figure jumping between 2 portals, capturing the
essence of the game’s mind-bending puzzles. In the background, we see another robotic
figure, who seems to be either a side character or an antagonist of this game whose glowing
eye watches over the scene with a threatening gaze in a futuristic setting in blue and white.
showcases the game's puzzles and level design taking place in future time in “science
enrichment” centre.
Gameplay Environment:
Little Nightmares generally takes place in a
frightening underwater resort called the
Maw that is distinguished by a gloomy colour
scheme and sometimes yellowy filter and
industrial architecture. The character moves
through cramped tunnels, winding hallways,
and tall chambers full of dangers. The
