There are rules in every business relationship. These rules, whether spoken or unspoken, differ

across work cultures with the overall goal of directing the behavior and attitudes of all parties

involved in order to achieve a more transparent and efficient day-to-day operation, not

necessarily aiming for legal compliance as the primary goal but rather moral excellence to boost

goodwill with customers (Mayer et al. 2012). They are used in the development of ethical

guidelines that are used to identify the moral dimensions of a situation and the implications of

decisions made during the resolution of that same situation. Corporations are legally and

ethically obligated to follow the aforementioned principles in all contexts to ensure that all

decisions are hopefully in line with the organization's mission statement. However, when a

company flagrantly violates the guidelines, it may face legal consequences, often resulting in

unfavorable situations brought on by complete disregard for government statutes.

This paper introduces the reader to the subject company, Google, and how it thrives in a dynamic

business environment, while also identifying the legal and ethical issues it faces when violating

business ethics, as well as the regulatory policies put in place by the government to address the

consequences of the violations. The company's management framework has been analyzed and

contrasted with a suggested framework in order to critically observe a potentially different

outcome during a crisis. Based on Google's past and current legal issues, the paper goes on to

make recommendations for business operations in the information technology industry.
