Introduction
Two behaviors are going to be discussed in this paper, and these include smoking and
drinking. These are the behaviors that 23-year-old Anna embraced while in high school, and she
has not managed to quit them. When I met her, she was at first scared of revealing such
information, for she had kept it to herself for a long time. Even though she thought I was a secret,
it is evident from her dry lips that she is a frequent smoker, but she always disguises it by
applying lipstick. As her closest friend, I noticed it because she is always restless and wishes to
spend most of the time alone. I used to wonder about this habit until I discovered she was a
smoker and would vanish into a secret place so that she could smoke alone.
Anna’s smoking and drinking behavior arose when John Smith, her grandfather, died of
cardiac arrest. This followed the fact that her family has a history of cardiac arrest and her
grandfather’s demise happened just one year after her father died of the same condition.
Historically, most of her family members have succumbed to the same condition, but the latter
incident made the family members conscious and worried about this trend.
Dave, the family spokesperson, advised all the family members to accept this fact and take
the positive measures of keeping themselves healthy, especially by taking the appropriate
nutrition and exercising regularly. From the health point-of-view, this was the best initiative to be
taken by a senior family member, and it would be wise if all family members embraced the
move. Most family members heeded the advice because it was hard to tell who could fall victim
next, and it was only wise to stay fit and eat healthily.
Despite the health advice provided by Dave, Anna was shocked beyond measure, and she
