Part One Impacts of the Population Problem on Quality of Care, Patient Safety and Costs to the System and Individual There varieties of effects obesity in children and a dolescents have on patient safety. The healthcare providers have a responsibility to ensure that all the patients seen and cared for are safe at all times. However, this safety is compromised with obesity. Children and adolescents with obesity have increas ed risk of compromised safety during care. There are a number of ways in which this population problem has affect ed the safety of the patients. F irst, a study conducted found that there is increased risk of medication errors among children that are obese. The medication errors identified are associated with inaccurate dosing weight and inaccurate dosing strategy such as weight -based versus flat -fixed dose ( Procaccini et al., 2022). Notably, procedural care is also affected by obesity in children and obesity . In addition to this children with obesity tend to be at higher risk of falls in the hospital and injuries among others.
