July 10, 2022 Instructional Need 2 One of the major instructional needs that we need in our school is math skills. According to the California Assessment of Students Performance and Progress result, our school only has 53 percent of students who met the standard that is set by California. This means the school needs to improve its math curriculum for the students. By improving the math curriculum, the students will achieve higher school on the CAASPP test. When the school addresses the need to improve the math curriculum, it will give the teacher the training and support they need to succeed. For example, giving the teachers professional development will improve their math curriculum building in the form of common core. They will have support from the expert. Another example is giving the teacher time for PLC. This way the teacher will have time to work
with each other and make sure they all are on the same page. When the teachers get this support, they will be able to teach the students with the confidence of passing the CAASPP. Outcome With the support that the school is able to give the teacher, the outcome that I want to see is for us to develop a new curriculum that meets the standard of the common core. By achieving this outcome, the students will be able to achieve 70 percent of our students meet the math CAASPP standard. Also, the other outcome is the curriculum is more aligned with the common core than it used to be. Since the teachers are attending professional development on a common core-based math curriculum, the teachers at my school will be able to create a curriculum that meets the standard perfectly.
