Learning Aim B Unit 20 – Enterprise in IT
Assignment 2
Unit 20: Assignment 2 – Develop a marketing
plan for an IT product or service based on market
research
I will be coming up with an IT-based company idea for this assignment. The
primary objective of this project is to develop a marketing strategy for a good or
service using marketing research and standards.

Selecting a Product or Service Idea to Market for an IT
Enterprise
Identifying an IT product or service to create an enterprise
A ticket system is the IT service I intend to develop with the goal of starting a
company. Users can search and buy tickets for various events at a lower cost via
the ticket system, which will take the form of a website and app. I'll go over the
standards for judging the business concept I've developed below.

Product or Service Assessment
This IT service has a number of advantages over its rivals in the market,
including the ability to serve a wide range of consumers and more cheap ticket
pricing. This IT service would need to only show good available tickets in order to
satisfy the customer's needs. Easy access to tickets is another necessity for
customers that is taken seriously, which means that customers shouldn't have to
struggle to discover tickets they desire and can afford. In order for customers to
choose to allow the sharing of their data with third-party businesses, there must
also be a third-party consent option. This would enable the IT service to send
emails about future events as well as post customised events that consumers
would probably attend. This would address issues like expensive tickets, difficulty
finding tickets, and receiving recommendations for events you're not interested
in.

Sustainability Assessment
This IT service will be digital, thus there won't be any environmental impact,
making it an appropriate product. Making the IT service recyclable and reusable
wouldn't be relevant because it wouldn't include any physical elements. Since
the IT service would either be an application or online, its power consumption
would not be extremely significant. If the IT service is profitable and does not
have a negative effect on the community's social, environmental, or cultural
facets, I intend to continue supporting it in the long run. I would need to manage
both positive and negative effects of the system, making sure that it is operating
effectively, to ensure social sustainability for my IT service. The IT service's
website or app shouldn't offend anyone or display bias towards any particular
demographic, and anyone who registers will have an equal chance to buy tickets.

Security Assessment
It would be necessary for the IT service I plan to develop to have secure servers
where its communication is shielded from unintended recipients. This would need
using cryptography or encrypted and decrypted communications when it
communicates with other Web servers and Web browsers. Software source

control would also need to be implemented into my IT service in order to track
and manage platform modifications. Regular penetration tests, which are allowed
simulated attacks carried out on a computer system to evaluate its security,
would be a requirement I would need to meet for my IT service. By doing this, I
can discover systemic flaws before criminals do and exploit them. Another
method for ensuring the security of the system and the user's account is
password protection. I'd like to use a different method where, when a person
tries to log in, a one-time password is delivered to their email address instead of
having to reuse a password.

Usability Assessment
I must make sure that the user interface functions properly and that there are no
difficulties for users when using the IT service. This entails making the navigation
buttons clear and making it simple for customers to comprehend how to utilise
the website and application. Continuous integration is a widely used technique
that improves the experience of software development by making it simpler,
faster, and less hazardous. Continuous integration involves automating the
merging of code changes from various contributors into a single software project.
Using this would enable the IT service to support little modifications that have
big positive effects.

Financial Assessment
Financial Assessment is the process of analysing whether the startup
company would be successful and financially secure using my IT service. The
proposal must first be evaluated for viability because, if clients are not interested
in the product, the company will suffer a loss. Due to the market, it is entering, I
think this product would be quite successful. Given the variety of tickets that
might be purchased on it, this idea may generate a considerable amount of cash
because it would draw in a large number of customers. One drawback is that the
total cost of producing the IT product could be a little high.

Potential Size of the Market

Legal Assessment
There are five essential legal factors to take into account while launching a
business idea and preparing to develop a product or service.

The first legal component is ownership; whoever produces the software code
owns the application, and copyright is used to protect the authorship of the code.
It is crucial to make sure that there is a contract between the company and
developers specifying that the firm has ownership of the present and future
rights linked to the software code. During the development phase, third-party

developers may write the code for a company. A non-disclosure agreement will
direct the third-party developers not to use or obtain access to data and
information deemed sensitive, such as market research, the plan for the app,
potential users, testing data, and more, in order to further protect copyright.
Licence and distribution agreements are the second legal requirements; without
which it would be virtually impossible for a business to reach its customers. With
this, the IT service would be accessible through well-known stores like the Apple
Store ad Google Play Store. Companies should carefully study the terms and
conditions before agreeing, especially those pertaining to content, marketing,
privacy, and ongoing support. The software might be removed from the app store
if it doesn’t adhere to the conditions set by Apple or Google. It would be smart to
wait to publish the service until it complies entirely with the operator’s
agreement in order to prevent this.
One of the five legal factors to consider when developing a business idea is
trademarks. Users may be able to differentiate a business from the hundreds of
rivals who essentially offer the same features and content by having a very
powerful brand. A knowledgeable intellectual property solicitor would be needed
to conduct a trademark clearance search as applying for a trademark can be a
challenging process. Additionally, they would need to file for protection in other
important jurisdictions as well as a UK trademark, for example, if they planned to
sell NFL tickets in the USA in the future.
The fourth legal component is intellectual property because it is relatively simple
to violate someone else's intellectual property rights while creating a website
or mobile application. Do not, without first acquiring a licence, copy any portion
of another company's software or source code. It's crucial to have explicit
provisions against intellectual property infringement in the developer's
agreement.
The final legal component would be to incorporate global laws into the mobile
app. This implies that even while the app has users from all over the world, its
marketing and distribution strategies must adhere to all applicable consumer
protection, data privacy, and software licencing rules in other countries. By
collaborating with a commercial law attorney, the business can receive guidance
on the numerous legal requirements that must be met. Gaining compliance early
on will save you a tonne of time, money, and stress by lowering the chance of
potential international regulatory inquiries or intellectual property infringement
claims.
Additionally, there would need to be some legalisations for both users and
labour. According to the Data Protection Act of 2018, every person's data that a
firm owns must be treated ethically and responsibly. This would contain private
information about clients, users, and customers, such as their names, addresses,
and contact information, as well as any other sensitive data that might be
present in the database, such medical records. Failure to comply with this
legislation could result in the obtaining of personal information by people who
would use it for harmful activities like identity theft. Another is the Health and
Safety at Work Act of 1974 (HASAWA 1974), which requires that there must be
adequate staff training to ensure that health and safety procedures are
understood and followed, adequate welfare provisions for employees while they
