Behavior;
Take the bike <–> go by car
Motivation;
You want to do something, bcs you like biking/ you want to save the climate or you have a
habit of taking the bike
Even if the motivation is there, there is even a chance that you don’t do the behavior
Capability;
You need to physical capability to be able to ride a bike
Opportunity;
You have a bike, if you don’t owe you, you aren’t able
=>You need to have the 3 things or the behavior will be unlikely
e.g.; smoking - If you are disgust from a smell, your motivation will be there to not start
smoking. this is an automatic way through your emotions
->passes by a bakery and smell croissants
e.g.; if you created a habit, putting on your seatbelt
If you think about it, motivation is when the sign goes on when you didn’t put it on
If you did it anyway (without thinking), it’s a habit
e.g.; taking the stairs instead of the elevator
motivation; you want to safe energy / you want to stay in good health/ some people have
an automatic behavior, they just take the stairs or the elevator
capability:
physical: if you are obese, you will not be capable
psychological: do you feel you can do it / do you have the knowledge to do it (you
don’t have the knowledge that exercise can make you healthier)
social opportunity: for what do you have social support?
e.g.; go to work with short
you can be motivated for that
you have the knowledge to put on a short
but you don’t have the social opportunity -> bcs your social environment doesn’t allow it
but if everybody does it or you know that they don’t care, you are more likely to do it (social
environment accepts it)
