The health care system in United States is most expensive in the world. Despite the high
expenditure, United States fails to obtain the desirable health outcomes relative to other
countries. Empirical results consistently exhibit that United States repeatedly underperforms in
most of the dimensions of health performance. Among other 11 nations like Switzerland, United
Kingdom, France, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Australia, Norway, Sweden, New Zealand and
Units States- US is observed to perform last or near last in the dimensions of access, equity and
efficiency. The most striking difference between US health care system and other industrialized
country is the absence of universal health insurance coverage in America. A growing number of
Americans have come under coverage due to Affordable care Act that was passed in 2009.

US (Trudy Lieberman, 2012). US health insurance is no doubt complex and has its own culture.
Critics advocate US health care system as chaotic and confusing. People in US are confused
about how to get the health care and how to pay for the service. But people UK do not have to be
worried about such issues. In all the key health outcome indicators like quality, efficiency, access
and equity, United States ranks beyond the other major western countries. According to the 2014
edition of Mirror, Mirror, considering the data for 11 major advanced countries, UK ranks first
followed by Switzerland. (The Common Wealth fund, 2014).
