Unit 18 - Assignment 2
IT project management
____________________________________
Introduction
For this assignment we have been asked to create an animation that is no more than 3
minutes long with the theme of British values. The animation is targeted at local college
students. We have been given a month to create this assignment.
Scenario and Requirements
Audience
The audience for this assignment is 16-18 year olds. So I will have to produce an animation
that is appropriate for that age group and use elements and assets that these teenagers can
relate to and understand. I should refrain from including anything that is considered to be
inappropriate to maintain a serious and calm atmosphere when the sanimation is being
viewed.
Purpose of animation
The purpose of this animation is to actively promote British values. This includes The rule of
law, Individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
The animation must be engaging and attractive as it will be used to inform the audience.
This animation will be uploaded onto the college website so it must be appropriate.
Client requirements
The client requirements for this animation is being created for the purpose of eductioning 16-
18 year olds about British values so the contents of this animation should be appropriate for
this age group. As this animation is aimed at 16-18 year olds the contents of this animation
shouldn't be distracting or inappropriate but we are allowed to add engaging colours as well
as music. This animation should be no longer than 3 minutes and should be in a linear
format meaning it shouldn’t have any interactive elements. The animation will play from
beginning to end without any pauses. For this animation we must add some form of sound
whether it is a sound effect or some form of voice acting.
Intended platform for the delivery
The animation will be delivered on a variety of different devices from a phone, laptop,
smartboard and so on. Since this animation will be viewed by teenagers the platform for
delivery should be appropriate to them and should mainly be aimed at devices teenagers
use the most such as phones, tablets and laptops. This animation shall be able to be played
on a smartboard without a distorted image as that will ruin the animation and the message it
will bring forth.
, Legal and Ethical Considerations
When creating this animation I must consider copyright laws. The images and sounds that
may appear in my animation must be approved in order for me to use and for all the assets
that I use in my animation I must credit the original artist/creator. Any image or sound that is
not my original work must be credited to maintain copyright laws.
Also when creating my animation I should consider the ethical issues and make sure not to
add anything that can be considered offensive to anyone. This must be done as this
animation is an educational animation aimed at anyone regardless of religion and gender.
Some ethical issues I should consider are confidentiality and representation. For example in
my animation if I do use real world figures they should be people who are respected and are
acknowledged by their efforts in improving or fighting for what is right. I should definitely
avoid using any real world figure that is viewed in a negative light or people that are out right
considered despicable.
Design
Initial ideas
For this assignment my initial ideas for my animation was to have background music
throughout the whole animation while the theme British values were explained through text
that appeared on screen. This is very basic and this idea if created into an animation would only
have lasted around 30 seconds. The animation duration is fine as it does not exceed the 3
minute cap. As the animation went on and as different topics were covered I would insert still
images to represent those topics.
Storyboard
This is my storyboard. It’s not perfect but is a ruff draft of what my animation will look like and
what topics I will cover. In this storyboard I have labelled each scene and labled what will be
discussed in these scenes. I have also included how long I believe these scenes will last.
