USE SENSIBLE.
In this assignment I’m going to describe how websites of
three organisations have been designed to appeal visually
to their users.
Visual appeal
Use of coloursand Consistency:Use of colours and
consistency with brands are both important aspects
of a website, as it determines how successful a
business is, familiarising customers with the brand
and identity.
Tesco does these things very efficiently as they are
constantly trying to familiarise consumers with their
unified colours which are red, blue and white. On their
webpage they have a white background with spacious
writing to emphasise the white. The majority of the writing
on the page is in blue also the hyper link buttons. The last
colour red, they use to represent special deals and offers.
In addition Tesco uses all these colours on their club card,
shopping trollies, shopping bags and delivery trucks.
British Red Crosshas aStrong call to action to fit with
their visual appeal. This is used help to engage visitors
and hopefully improve conversion rates as people are
convinced of how vital their donation is. If they had an
unattractive/persuasive (pictures, slogans etc.)campaign
the Red Cross foundation wouldn’t be as successful as it is
now.
College visual appeal make it obvious who their target
market is, they do this by having relevantinformation and
bold outlines to their objectives. From research I was doing
with other colleges I noticed that College have many
appeals that the other websites didn’t have. This is very
good as it’s always a positive to have more stuff than your
opposition.

Fonts and Graphics: The basics of any website
include the fonts used for the various levels of text
and the graphics used to convey the right
impression, or give the right information, to the
visitor.
Tesco consistently uses small contents of writing using
Arial font, the majority of this writing is in blue. This
appeals to most customers as it stands out instantly and it
is also user friendly to most customers as the site does not
bore you with lots of writing/ unnecessary information.
Tesco also uses different levels of text with bold in order to
make particular parts standout such as new deals or a new
range that they are launching.
British Red Cross generally usea Calibri font on their
website with a font size of 10, this font shows the
seriousness of the matters their trying to put out there to
the world. The back drop of the website is a white and red.
This shows how direct the website is. If customers were to
see allot of colours then they could get distracted of the
main purpose of why there on the site.
College has a mixture of graphics on their site. The
reason for this is because they’re not just appealing to one
audience. Their homepage is nice and colourful to show
how welcoming they are but when you click onto a tab it
automatically turns into a basic font with lots of
information and hyperlinks. This is done to help their
audience gather enough information to satisfy them.
Which cold hopefully allow them to apply for whatever
course they’ve picked.
Advantages and Disadvantages of using multi-
media: Multimedia elements within web pages allow
for a user to play video streaming or audio files
through their browser, or view images. There are
alternative techniques to design these features into
a page. For example, it is possible to have a link to
