,My name is........, and I've been requested to prepare a case study on a huge company with
more than 250+ employees. I will need to research a range of job roles from John Lewis and
choose an actual job role that would be appropriate for now or near in the future. I will
research John Lewis and analyse the requirements of the job. Using this research, I will compile
a portfolio that evidences my application for this job role and can be submitted to my peers for
their reviews.
The employee-owned John Lewis Partnership consists of the UK department store brand John
Lewis and the food store company Waitrose. A clothing establishment founded on Oxford
Street in 1846 by the name of John Lewis. Lewis acquired a majority ownership in Peter Jones, a
well-known Sloane Square retailer, in 1906. Including those employed by John Lewis
department store and Waitrose supermarket, the partnership employed 80,900 people in the
year that ended January 2021. Since 2015, the company's workforce has shrunk by more than
10 thousand employees.

John Lewis, a British grocery store brand, is part of the employee-owned John Lewis
Partnership, which also includes department store chain Waitrose. On Oxford Street in 1846,
John Lewis was founded by its original founder, who started a clothing shop. A notable Sloane
Square retailer, Peter Jones, was acquired by Lewis in 1906 and is being run by the Lewis family
today. The partnership employed 80,900 people in the year that ended in January 2021,
including those who worked for John Lewis department stores and Waitrose supermarkets.
During the past year, the company's workforce has shrunk by more than ten thousand
individuals. Employees, referred to as Partners have a say in how the firm is operated and
receive a cut of its annual profits under the company's employee-owned business model. There
are 50 John Lewis & Partners locations in the United Kingdom, including 36 department stores,
12 John Lewis at Home locations, and two John Lewis at Terminal 2 locations. John Lewis, a
well-known firm, has a lot of information about how it recruits and selects employees in order
to maintain its high standards of performance. I have chosen this company because it aligns
with the company I chosen for assignment 1, which makes it easier for me to write about in
terms of documentation.

P3: Documentation for use in selection and recruitment activities
I have researched various jobs through the john Lewis website and have come to the conclusion
that with the list given to me, hospitality assistant is the most appropriate for me. This is
because I will be able to apply for the job right now or in the near future. A hospitality assistant
will have to serve the customers to the company's standards, to promote a friendly and
welcoming atmosphere.

, Job description
Those seeking employment might use a job description to learn more about the responsibilities
and tasks involved in the position they are applying for. Most typically, the description is
written by a member of an organization's HR department or an external recruiter, who is in
charge of ensuring that the right person is hired for the position. The appropriate details in a
job description can assist job seekers assess whether or not the role matches their skill set and
whether or not it is a job they genuinely want to do. It is critical from the employer's point of
view to ensure that the candidates applying for the post are a good fit for it. It streamlines the
selection process for HR departments and external recruiters, allowing them to obtain a high
concentration of prospects who are appropriate for interview or further consideration. As for
John Lewis, they have various job descriptions for different roles in which potential employees
can apply for. The Job description shows the job requirements as well as the desirable
experience, skills and qualifications they require for the applicant to have when applying for the
job.
