pallor, swelling, bleeding, or exudate in the oral mucosa ( Bickley & Szilagyi, 2016).
Swollen lymph nodes could be suggestive of infection (Bickley & Szilagyi, 2016). Masses could
mean potential cancer (Bickley & Szilagyi, 2016).
Cardiovascular – Abnormal findings could include a heart rate lower than 60 beats per
minute or greater than 100 beats per minute, an irregular rhythm, alterations in carotid
pulses, a murmur, bruit, thrill, or absence of S1 and S2 heart sounds ( Bickley & Szilagyi,
2016).
Respiratory – Abnormal findings could include wheezing, crackles, rhonchi, barrel chest,
increase work of breathing, or use of accessory muscles (Bickley & Szilagyi, 2016).
Abdominal – Abnormal findings could be an asymmetric appearance, absence of bowel
sounds in any or all quadrants, increased tenderness, of the presence of masses ( Bickley &
Szilagyi, 2016).
