This presentation is the first assignment of Unit 5: Data Modeling in BTEC. It consists of 64 slides that have met P1, P2, M1 and D1 which is required to get the highest possible grade (Distinction) in Assignment 1. I have explained, analysed and evaluated the stages involved in the decision-making...
Brilliant very detailed and helpful with this unit

DATA MODELING
REPORT EXPLAINING THE STAGES
INVOLVED IN DECISION MAKING
FOR DATA MODELING PROCESS
Assignment A
, Data modelling involves a spreadsheet or another appl
to mimic a real life situation in which business decision
to be made. It allows all options to be considered by pre
lightly outcomes. Before creating or designing your mod
spreadsheet, you have to understand what is data mo
and how it is used in decision making process. You
taken through the stages include in decision making p
WHAT IS before making your spreadsheet for your data mo
process. You will an evaluated document with all the
DATA explained below.
MODELLING? The data modelling process requires some stages to be done:
1. Understanding the scenario
2. Identifying the information and sources
3. Recognizing the factors affecting the quality of information
4. Analysing information
5. Identifying the alternatives and consequences of implementing them
6. Making and justifying decisions
7. Communicating decision with others
,UNDERSTANDING THE
SCENARIO
• Basic definition of the scenario would be that it makes it clear
what the spreadsheet should be able to do by the end of project.
• Before doing anything with your data modelling, it is required to
understand the scenario because it allows you to understand that
what your spreadsheet needs to be able to do. Unlike, if you don’t
understand the scenario or skip it, it’s going to causes some serious
problems in your spreadsheet that you might not be able to solve
them.
• The first thing that you have to do when you get your spreadsheet
is to check and figure out who wants this spreadsheet (this is
important as it gives you the information about the owner), who is it
for, why is it important for them and what do they want to display
from this sheet. These are the types of questions that will be answered
when you have a good understanding about the scenario. You have to
answer these questions to understand the scenario. The key question
in understanding the scenario is that whom and why for you are
creating this for.
• For example: A cinema company selling seats at the cinema, they
need to plan how much to charge tickets. So who wants the sheet?
The company that owns the company. Finance department of the
company. Company Directors maybe. Next, why do they need it? To
be able to meet prices and make a profit. And finally, what do they
want it to do? To be able to adapt to changing circumstances, amount
of tickets sold etc.
, Identifying the information and sources:
To make your decision and data modelling, you have to identify the information
you get. This includes: where did the information came from and is it reliable to
use? Because wrong or fraud information will end up with negative assaults.
There are three types of information in data modeling
