Dear Director of Retail Operations,
The problem at hand that I have been asked to resolve is with the employees at our
SNHU Pet Supply Company retail location. Many employees have expressed they feel
micromanaged, that their specific skill sets are not being utilized appropriately and that they
are under a lot of stress to meet the managers’ demands. I have a proposal I would like you to
see to possibly implement some different management approaches that may assist in making
work easier not just for the managers’, but even more so the employees.
The general functions of management include planning, organizing, leading and
controlling. Within the planning stage, managers commonly establish organizational goals and
then come up with a plan to achieve them. In the organizing phase, resources are distributed
appropriately to personnel to achieve the goals established in the planning stage. In the leading
stage, management is to motivate employees so the behavior becomes positive to achieve the
organizational goals. The controlling stage includes monitoring the execution of the plan and
making adjustments accordingly to ensure the goals are being met. Using productive and
established management skills and resources can optimize employee morale as well as want
them to work for the managers that are over them. Employees like to have recognition, to
know they are being cared for and that they are being trusted with getting their work done on
an everyday basis (Wroblewski, 2020).
I believe that a management approach that will work in this situation for the better is
that the different objectives that need to be met should be distributed to each employee’s
