company. Completing the SWOT analysis at the beginning of the simulation can be used as a
reference throughout the simulation. As decisions are made, the impacts of the SWOT are
noticeable to the company's performance. Lastly, based on that analysis,considering how keeping
track of a companiesSWOTscontinuously may aid in performance improvement.
Reflection of Transferable Learnings
The concepts, ideas, and strategies I have learned thus far are conducting a SWOT
analysis, developing a strategy, creating a budget plan, completing a QBR, and reading/analyzing
various business statements, reports, and charts.At the beginning of the simulation, I was
prompted to conduct a SWOT analysis for the Hisco company. According to Grant (2020),
"SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis is a framework used to
evaluate a company's competitive position and to develop strategic planning. SWOT analysis
assesses internal and external factors, as well as current and future potential" (p. 1). Based on this
definition and the information provided about Hisco, I completed the SWOT analysis, ensuring
that the analysis was also asrealistic, fact-based, and data-drivenas possible.The better the
accuracy of the SWOT, the better its aid in the decision-making process.
Using the SWOT analysis, the company's goals, and objectives, I was prompted to
develop a strategy that will result in an annual net income commitment range of $300k to
$400k.Favaro (2012) stated that a strategy is a devised plan made up of strategic decisions and
actions that are put together to be beneficial to the company in meeting its goals and objectives.
Therefore, I could pull the information gained from the SWOT analysis and Hisco's goals and
objectives and determine what actions and decisions needed to be made to meet the annual net
income commitment of $300k to $400k.
