What is the importance of short-term memory in daily life? Beyond remembering a newperson or the reason why you are at the store, what example can you think of?
o The notion that short-term memory (STM) can be bundled into information-
specific safeguards initially gathered encouragement and backing from several

memory takes over and we no longer need to read the recipe to ensure we can

o Clive responded indifferently because he sincerely did not comprehend that the
journal was he nor what the journal contained. When Clive’s wife informs him
, that he was the person who wrote the journal and confirms that it was his
handwriting, we see his anger begin to show, then he becomes baffled by her wish
to linger on the journal going through each page and clarifying to him. It
ultimately came to a head when Clive became so aggravated that he snatched the
journal from his wife and told her she was “stupid” because she was not hearing
his pleas of never seeing the journal before. I would have most likely responded
the same way as Clive. I feel this way due to similar situations in my own life of
making a statement and feeling as if what I am saying is not being heard
regardless of how many times I have said it.
What are some challenges of being a caregiver for someone who has anterograde
amnesia? Provide examples in your response.
o “Individuals with moderate to severe dementia or another cognitive impairment
often require special care, including supervision (sometimes 24 hours a day),
specialized communication techniques, and management of difficult behavior.
They may need help with activities of daily living (called “ADLs”), such as
bathing, eating, transferring from bed to a chair or wheelchair, toileting, and/or
other personal care” (Family Caregiver Alliance, 2024). People who are
diagnosed with mental impairments may encounter a variety of behavioral
difficulties that can cause vexation for caregivers. These impairments could
consist of “communication difficulties, perseveration (fixation on/repetition of an
idea or activity), aggressive or impulsive behaviors, paranoia, lack of motivation,
memory problems, incontinence, poor judgment, and wandering” (Family
