Priestly sir hypothesised that air contaminated by mic and candle was
actually restored by mint-plant.
He discovered oxygen in 1774.
He suggested the role of air in growth of plants.
Jan Ignenhousz (1730-1799)
He used a set-up similar to what used by priestly.
He placed it once in dark and once in light.
He took aquatic plant (hydrilla) & kept it in sunlight.
Bubbles of oxygen were obser ved therefore Photosynthesis must have
taken place.
When put in dark, no bubbles were formed. Therefor no photosynthesis
had occurred .
