UNIT 7 BTEC BUSINESS JANUARY EXAM 2023.
SPEND 2 HOURS FOR ACTIVITY 1 AND 1 HOUR FOR ACTIVITY 2
There is more likely to be an electric or retail market. The activity 1 will be 52 marks
and activity 2 will be 18 marks.
Introduction
I will be discussing two options and justify which option is better by making
recommendations and justifications for the options.
Current Market or Market Trends
(This what you need to gather information from the case study for example what are the
competitors, market trends, and how this is positive or negative for the specific person to
use.(will indicate in case study)
Financial information
This will be about market and business and both businesses.( gross profit, gross profit
margin, net profit and net profit margin should definitely be included in this option) you can
also add Return on Capital employed, Ratios analysis.
Net profit= Gross profit- expenses
Net profit margin= net profit / total revenue x 100
Gross Profit= Sales revenue x Cost of Goods sold
Gross profit Margin= Gross profit / revenue x 100
Return on Capital Employed = Net operating profit or earning before tax and interest / total
assets - current liabilities
SWOT Analysis
For option 1 and 2
Strengths
Look for any strengths such as increase in market share, reputation, brand image, or
competitive advantage, etc.
Weaknesses
You can add weaknesses as what factors would be disadvantageous such as failure to adapt
into a new market, or poor customer service .
Opportunities
In this sector you need to write what could be the possible perks or opportunities for
business to use for example franchising opportunity, marketing or entering into a new market
opportunity, growth opportunities.
Threats
