Assignment B - Lesson Plan Form and ParagraphAims:
1. To introduce students to using the first conditional form when
communicating about possible future events. (Events likely to happen
under certain circumstances only.)
Lesson Type: Grammar Lesson Aims: 2. To contrast the use of present simple and future simple tenses by
using sentences like “We will go to the park tomorrow, if it does not
rain.”
3. To practice the use of the first conditional form by participation of
the controlled and freer practice activities provided
Objectives:
1. Students will discuss future goals/objectives using the first
conditional to help them discover the full function of it.
A2 (Late elementary/ 2. Students will learn to use the first conditional accurately through

4. Some of them might be familiar with the basic sentence structure,
but I will still make it clear for everyone.
Anticipated problems:
1. Firstly, I personally think that students (especially at such a low
level) are often and easily tempted to switch to their native language
or may ask me or other students to translate some things to their
own language when they are struggling.
Solution: I will emphasize the importance of keeping the classroom
“English” and will keep directing them back to English with positive
encouragement.
2. Students might struggle to understand the form of the sentence
used for the first conditional: “If + subject + present simple”.
Solution: I will use sufficient examples and do often concept checks in

between the lesson, I will also provide more reference to this in the
controlled practice activity provided.
3. The first conditional might be confusing since it includes two
clauses that implement two different tenses. The first clause being
the main clause – present simple tense, and the second clause being
the ‘if’ clause – future simple tense.
Solution: I will make sure to emphasize the function of the first
conditional at the beginning of the lesson as well as making it clear as
to what the requirements are for certain events to take place in the
future. I will also explain how the probability of an event determines
which conditional will be used.
