APN Scope of Practice
In the state of Florida, the Florida a board of nursing currently
regulates Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure. To become a nurse
practitioner or advance practice nurse, an individual must first be a
registered nurse and hold a valid registered nurse license from any
jurisdiction and a Bachelor of science in nursing, (BSN) degree (FBON, 2019).
After obtaining a BSN, “a master’s degree or a post- master’s certificate in a
nursing clinical specialty area and a national advanced practice certification
from an approved nursing specialty board” is required before applying for
