After an intensive read of the course book, I would definitely use it for an advanced class as it
meets the minimum requirements and guidelines presented in unit 10 of the module notes,
though there are a few features I do not completely reason with of I will discuss later. The course
book is well structured as it initially begins with learning easier material and gradually progressing
to a level of content that is appropriate for advanced learners , developing from activities such as ‘
fill in the missing words ‘ , to writing writing in-depth reports. In this way , it makes it relatively
easier for the students to develop their English comprehension and context so skills. The content
and its’ activities are fit for both individuals and group capacity , and I love how it is clearly
indicated. The extra tips are very advantageous to the learners as they serve as great aid ,
especially if certain aspects have not been covered in class. It provides extra resources , speech
bubbles , tips , etc. which is great for igniting curiosity of the foreign language amongst the
learners. They serve as great help as the grammar becomes more challenging as the coursebook
keeps progressing. This is great because it is also beneficial to the teacher as the book follows the
objectives of the lesson by developing students’ language proficiency. The coursebook consists of a
warmer , body and plenary which is good for setting a plan for language lessons. The book consists
of a consistent topic ‘ Global Living ‘ which is very fitting for learners that are of diverse
nationalities and globalisation affects everyone which makes it easy to share ideas, the topic is
explored in a very broad manner enabling to to cover all four skills , namely ; reading, writing,
listening, and speaking. The terms used are appropriate to aid learners mastering fluency while the
listening and reading texts are appealing and attention grabbing to the learners. Also , the book is
aesthetically pleasing , from the layout , to the use of pictures , diagrams , etc. which also allows
learners to visualize what they learn.
My biggest concern was that the book comes at a fee, of which not all learners come from a good
financial background. I also noticed the . I do not appreciate how content is crammed up in one
page throughout the book. End of unit tests , digital material , grammar reference pages etc ,
would have more advantageous. Overall , this book is appropriate for advanced learners and I
would definitely use it .
