mission was to make great quality clothing without using cheap “sweatshop” labor and
exploiting workers.” (Mehta, 2016) Their talent needs to embody this mission and it should be
the driving force behind every business decision made. With there in made in American motto
and having the entire production process done in house they want to attract hard-working
home-
grown talent. Attracting talent that understands and believes in the mission will help promote
the mission.
The first talent American Apparel needs to find is a new CEO. They need a new leader who
can help fix past mistakes and rebrand the company with a heavy focus on their mission.
“American Apparel is about vision, passion, intensity, brand-free, sustainable, fair wages,
solar power, recycling, creativity and the can-do spirit,”. (Mehta, 2016) The CEO should have
experience with a multimillion-dollar company within the apparel industry. The CEO should
also be home grown and really have a strong connection with mission and vision of American
Apparel.
American Apparel needs to focus on recruiting talent who are looking for a career within the
apparel industry. They should be promoting the company’s mission while focusing on fair
wages and an atmosphere with career growth and longevity. They can use internal recruiting
techniques when focusing on mid to higher level positions and the lower-level positions should
